Tonight the team is meeting at our house to go debrief on time spent with David and Patricia Ibarra recently and to review the schedule for our trip. It's now looking like Mike will get to use a church building for the youth rally while the rest of the team does the introductory Love & Respect launch at a large school auditorium in Santa Fe. We're also hoping to map out the individual and group discipleship times during the trip (what materials, key points, etc.). Good stuff.
To help prepare for translating the litany of messages we also all meeting up this Friday night to have a "Love & Respect Marathon," watching just under 6 hours of L&R DVDs together. It will be a fire hydrant exercise to set the stage for ongoing refinement of our speaking content. What's really hard is when you have a 3 hour time block to speak, you cut that in half for translation time, plus a break - so how do you distill 3 hours of English content into just 45-60 minutes of presentation? That's hard! It's a good discipline, though. It forces us to constantly re-evaluate "What's the purpose? What's the critical message? Is this before or after presenting the Gospel? Will this be followed up on?"
Exciting times! If you think of it, pray for us tonight that our team would have clarity of vision and purpose as we seek out the will of the Father for each of the known ministry times. Pray also for our dear team members with double duty in translating (Yolanda and Bonnie) as they prepare for dozens of speaking scenarios! The gift of tongues would be pretty handy right about now... :-)
